Reps Carson, Jayapal, and Schakowsky will soon introduce the UNRWA Emergency Restoration Act of 2024.

So far, 52 House representatives have committed, but we still need to get as many original co-sponsors before this bill can be formally introduced.

Congress is currently on recess which means they are back in their home states and looking to connect with constituents locally. Now is the time to reach out to your rep's district office and set up a meeting to ask them to support the UNRWA Restoration Act!

Last month, the House passed a bill to extend the pause on US funding for UNRWA until September 2025. The UNRWA Restoration Act aims to reverse this by:

  • Removing the funding bans on UNRWA in the FY24 Appropriations bill and the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024; and
     
  • Urging the Secretary of State to end the temporary pause and resume funding for UNRWA.

The United States is now the ONLY country still withholding funds from UNRWA during the worst humanitarian crisis of our era and in Palestinian history.
