Stand.earth community members mobilized from Paris to Vancouver to Toronto and to the UK to create a collective voice that has not relented. We pack a big punch and now have a few crucial months ahead.
You see, lululemon told us it is working on its Climate Transition Plan, which will outline key climate goals and how it plans to reach them. lululemon has shown it's listening to our demands, but we're still waiting to see what climate action it will prioritize. At the same time, it has a history of setting goals without clear timelines or transparency. But this is an opportunity for it to turn things around and make a sector-leading climate plan.
We need to be louder and more in sync than ever to make sure lululemon’s Climate Transition Plan prioritizes phasing out coal and transitioning its supply chain to 100% renewable energy. And you play a vital role in making this happen.
How do we know our voices are being heard? In its 2024 Impact Report, lululemon set a milestone to transition its supply chain to 25% renewable energy by 2025. While this commitment still leaves a lot of unanswered questions, it is a move in the right direction — a move our relentless campaign facilitated. In July, we drew attention to lululemon’s sponsorship of Team Canada at the Olympics by mobilizing thousands of people to take action. Our demands have been clear from day one, and we’re not faltering now.
lululemon’s Impact Report revealed that, despite its claims, the company still falls short of its “Be Planet” promises. Its climate pollution from manufacturing increased by nearly 20% in just one year. lululemon has an opportunity to live up to its "Be Planet" messaging by setting an ambitious 2030 target.
If lululemon sees that this community of one million and counting is calling for it to adopt this necessary climate action, it cannot ignore our demands. We’ve brought lululemon to the negotiating table multiple times, and now we have a few months to seal the deal. We will be rolling out nonstop digital actions in the coming months to ensure lululemon hears us loud and clear.
I’m inspired by this community’s tenacity to continue to call on corporations to do better and turn the tide on corporate greenwashing. Our work on lululemon is creating a domino effect as other fashion companies have started to adopt sustainability policies that cover their supply chain and not just their stores. So, thank you for your hard work and belief in changing this multi-billion dollar company.
Your voice is your power. Let lululemon know why fossil fuels and greenwashing have no place in your future or closet.
Call on lululemon to do the right thing.
